It's spring, it's likely to rain any day for the next 2 months. Why don't they have a bunch more off days scheduled if they think the weather may be bad? I'm sure MLB is the one making the schedule out but weather and a need for rest are pretty weak reasons for the day off. It's probably a weird tradition that nobody wants to change or they figure all the hard core baseball fans that have waited all winter for the season to start partied so hard on opening day that they need a day off to rest.
