That logo is designed to look like both a righty and a lefty.Yeah I spent alot of time looking at it to one day before I finally asked the question myself.
Since it isn’t modeled after a real player like the NBA logo (Jerry West,) it could be either.
EDIT: TQT, where are you getting your FALSE info from? MLB.com says there is no model for the logo.
.
I think the ambiguity was intentional on the part of the designer. That’s also part of the reason, I believe, why they’ve never been able to confirm that it was designed from a certain person (eg. Killebrew).
When I first glance at it, I guess I see it as a righty, but that may be because I think it’s modeled after Harmon Killebrew. MLB has said it’s not supposed to be anyone in particular, but he’s always been the one most suspected of being the model.
It looks like it could be either so nobody gets offended.
Believe it or not, that logo IS modeled for a player (few people realize this) who was a switch-hitter… it is modeled after Peter Edward Rose! Think about the irony of that for a while!
I think he is a right handed batter because it is just how I look at it and it is right hanned batter.
RIGHITY
its designed so it looks lyk both righty and lefty i thinks its designed after Pete Rose most hits in MLB history
Harmon Killebrew is in fact the model for the logo, but MLB won’t say this because then they’d have to pay royalties, or could be forced to remove his image etc. Killebrew is of course right handed.
i was watching a baseball game on tv, and they got into a big discussion about it. they had some guy look it up and they said that a long time ago mlb asked Harmon Killebrew if they could model it after him, and he said yes. by the way, he bats rh
Righty
Harmon Killebrew is the model for the MLB logo. He was in the Commissioner’s office one day and was asked to be in the logo. The info is from Dave Niehaus via Killebrew himself. If that’s not good enough for you, tough. . . .
it could be either… its supposed to represent both types of people righties and lefties
It could be both. I thought the same thing.
At first glance it looks like a righty because it looks like you would be looking over the first batter’s box, i.e. the lefty’s side, but it can be either, but since I’m a righty, that’s what comes to mind first, and being it’s the dominant side, meaning that’s what most people are, that’s my logic.
It can go both ways, like the NBA guy, he could be dribbling with his right or left hand. I always look at the MLB guy as a lefty, not a righty.
LOOKS LIKE A RIGHTY
lets just say he is a switch hitter
