How come Mlb teams dont shake hands with each other after each game and say “good game” like little league?
Little Leagues teams do it all the time after games,Also when I used to play junior league baseball we shook hands with the other team and made a shaking hands straight line. How would baseball players feel if the mlb commissioner made a rule that "teams should shake hands with their opponent everyday after each game or they will get suspended for unsportsmanlike and not giving respect"Its like little leagues do it.If I was the commissioner I will make that rule.IT SHOWS RESPECT
Actually back in 2005 when the Dodgers and Cardinals played in the NLDS and the Cardinals defeated the Dodgers in 4 games. The Dodgers came out of their dugout after the Cardinals had finished celebrating and shook hands with them, its the first and only time ive ever seen or heard of this happening. It was a great moment because even after it all you should pay your respects to the other team for a good game played. If there is no hatred between the two teams or anything like that I dont see a problem with them shaking hands but its known for little leaguers to shake hands not Major League players.
Because they’ve spent the last nine innings trying to kill each other.
because they have to shake hands on there own team. The guys on the bench need some interatction. Besides all you need is for someone to get "accidently" trpied & pull a hammy or blow out a knee. This could possible by why they dont do it now!
I agree. it does SHOW RESPECT but i think the mlb think its childish to see grown men form a line and clap hands. i think they should but i dont see it hapening for a while.
Because they’re not in Little League anymore. They’re not paid to be good sports, they’re paid to win ballgames. Sometimes feelings get hurt along the way. Imagine you were instructed by your manager to throw at a guy, then have to shake his hand after the game? Fights would break out, and no one needs to have that happen.
It is done in the little league to teach sportsmanship. Major Leaguers know all about it by the time they get to "The Show". Most games in the majors have time constraints anyway. The Commissioner is always looking for ways to shorten an already long game.
This is not Hockey nor Futbol. Please learn the history of Baseball.
Because it’s the big leagues, not a bunch of 10 year olds needing a trophy to get some self worth.
I agree… It shows great amounts of respect. Even football players will congratulate one another on opposing teams after a game. I’ve seen it in basketball as well. How many times have you seen players kneeling together after a game and sharing a prayer after the game? I think it would bring back nothing but class to the game. I guess the league is afraid of having one turn into a bench-clearing brawl, esp when its Yanks vs Red Sox or Cubs vs Cards….
b/c they are professionals … and im sure we might have a few more team fights….
Well, it’s Little League and not Professional baseball. Why do you get kicked out of the game in little league for throwing your helmet, but not in baseball? Little League is more concerned with image and sportsmanship and not competition. That changes at the major league level.
I respect your opinion but doing it 162 times would be a bit overkill.
I would prefer that they (gasp) follow the NHL’s lead and do it at the conclusion of each playoff series.
