yes they do. The Dodgers were able to get that waived because they wanted Torre and only Torre. To have interviewed a minority or anyone else would have been a farce and unfair to those who had to come in to interview.

Yes but they shouldn't be forced to. They should be allowed to pick whoever they feel is best for the job regardless of color. The Mets hired Willie Randolph based purely on the fact that he's black. Willie is a fine man and was a great player, but as a manager - well, just take a look at what happened to them this season. Black, white, green, whatever - the man just doesn't cut it. How often has he ever gotten tossed from a game or kicked dirt on an umpire? A manager needs to be a fiery leader ala Billy Martin or Lou Piniella. Willie just hasn't got that in him. But he stays because he's black and Omar Minaya wants an all minority club like it's gonna earn him a Nobel prize or something. Maybe, but one thing it won't earn him is a World Series trophy.

Yes, they do have to interview minorities, if they don't they pay a fine, which the Dodgers did in advance. And to your previous pig-headed racist ass, if you live in New York, over 50% is minority anyway, Randolph is a decent manager, the Mets weren't exactly burning the league up before Willie got there. You obviously haven't noticed that they're in contention every year now, something they haven't been able to say since the mid 80's. Sorry about the rant, but you see my answer.

Torre was hired by LA because Little quit and Giardi did not want to manage the Dodgers
but with Torre's record, an interview wasn't really needed
