They should be allowed to pick whoever they feel is best for the job regardless of color. The Mets hired Willie Randolph based purely on the fact that he's black. Willie is a fine man and was a great player, but as a manager - well, just take a look at what happened to them this season. Black, white, green, whatever - the man just doesn't cut it. How often has he ever gotten tossed from a game or kicked dirt on an umpire? A manager needs to be a fiery leader ala Billy Martin or Lou Piniella. Willie just hasn't got that in him. But he stays because he's black and Omar Minaya wants an all minority club like it's gonna earn him a Nobel prize or something. Maybe, but one thing it won't earn him is a World Series trophy.
